Privacy Policy

Hamstash is a home and pantry inventory that works without an account and without a server of ours. This policy explains the small amount of data the app handles and where it goes.

Data that stays on your device

  • Your inventory. Items, Places, Spots, quantities, restock levels, expiry dates, notes, barcodes and your Shopping List are stored in the app’s private storage on your iPhone or iPad. A small summary is shared with Hamstash’s own widgets through an App Group container on your device.
  • Photos. Photos you take with the camera, or choose with the system photo picker, are saved in the app’s private storage. Hamstash cannot see the rest of your photo library and never uploads photos to us.
  • Camera and barcodes. Quick Add name suggestions (Apple Vision) and barcode scanning (VisionKit) run entirely on your device. A scanned barcode is only used to find Items you already saved. It is never looked up online.
  • Reminders. Running Low and expiry reminders are local notifications scheduled on your device.
  • Imports and exports. CSV files you import or export are read and written only when you pick them, using the system file picker or share sheet.

We do not have a copy of any of this. Deleting the app deletes it, except for the iCloud copy described below.

iCloud sync and backup (Hamstash Pro)

If you turn on iCloud sync, your inventory is stored in your own private iCloud database (Apple CloudKit), so it syncs between your devices and survives a new phone. That data belongs to your Apple Account and is protected by Apple under Apple’s privacy terms. We cannot see it or access it. You can turn sync off in Settings and delete the data in iOS Settings › [your name] › iCloud.

Purchases

In-app purchases are processed by Apple. To check whether Hamstash Pro is active, the app uses RevenueCat. RevenueCat receives a random anonymous ID created by the app, your Hamstash purchase history and basic device information (such as OS version, country/storefront and app version). This is used only to provide and restore your purchases. It is not linked to your name or email and is not used for advertising.

What we don’t do

  • No account, email or sign-in.
  • No analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs. Nothing about your inventory is collected.
  • No selling or sharing of data.
  • The Hamstash website uses no cookies, analytics or tracking scripts.

Children

Hamstash is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Your choices

You can delete all Hamstash data by deleting the app and, if you used sync, by deleting Hamstash’s iCloud data in iOS Settings. You can turn off reminders in the app or in iOS Settings. To ask about purchase data held by RevenueCat, contact us and we will help.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
